About Us

Who is GFA?

We are adventurers, fisherman, hikers, campers, travelers. The problem is, we tend to go a bit further than most. We have always built what we needed to explore where we wanted. From customized adventure trailers to fully outfitted chuck boxes.  We decided we needed a bit more comfort on the trails and be able to take the family with us, so we turned our attention to RVs. Offroad RVs to be exact, since we did not want to leave it at the trail head. We've owned a number of RVs from Popup campers to Class C motor homes. But none of them afforded us the ability to really go where we wanted. We started exploring the offerings from RV manufactures and we were dumbfounded at what they called "Offroad Ready" and were quite sickened actually at the build quality of everything we looked at. Do you know how long a stapled together drawer last on a wash board trail road? We then started looking at specialized and custom manufactures of off-road capable trailers and were hit with major sticker shock and disappointment at the lead time required to order one. So we did what we always have done, pulled up our boots, put on our work gloves, and started designing and building our own campers.

Our design centered around only a few requirements. A queen size bed, a full galley, and it had to be Jeep tow-able. We chose a profile reminiscent of the classic Benroy tear drop camper, this profile has been popular since it's release in 1953. It provides the perfect compromise in space, performance, and aesthetics. We started by building our own custom steel frame with Timbren heavy duty axle-less suspension, offroad coupler, and offroad wheels and tires and we had the foundation that we knew would get us there and back.

Whether it's fishing a remote Outer Banks island, exploring our mountains, or heading out west to Moab, we are sure our GFA Trailer will go anywhere we do.

GFA Trailers LLC will custom build you an adventure trailer, off-road tear drop, or chuck box with a blend of modern CNC technology with old-school wood and metal working methods. All with a no compromise approach to quality. Give us a call and see what we can build for you today.
